iWriterPro is a Windows software suite that assists writers in creating, organizing, and writing their articles, short-stories, and books. No manuscript is too small or too large to be used with iWriterPro!
When I wrote my first book (
"The Time of Jacob's Trouble"), I spent a year on the first draft and then another two months or so on edits and corrections. Needless to say, much of the delay was due to poor planning on my part, with scenes, characters, locations often being revised and updated. Revising a 500+ page book over and over became very tedious - to say the least!
After "The Time of Jacob's Trouble" was finally off to the publisher, I began working on my second novel, which was more or less a re-write from something I had put together during my first year of college in 1992. This time, however, the writing experience would be much different.
From "page 1" of the second book (
"Endeavor in Time"), I began using yWriter software - a freeware package by Simon Haynes of Spacejock Software. After working on a huge book in Word for months on end, it took a week or two to get used to using yWriter, even though the software was very straightforward and easy-to-use. yWriter software organizes your book according to chapters and scenes, and forces the user to be organized.
Surprisingly, I finished the manuscript for second book in just over one month, and I attribute it completely to using writing software, instead of a large text document/file that I had to constantly wade through. Using the writing software helped keep my characters and locations consistent and my chapters/scenes on track.
While the writing software worked very well and I had a good experience with it overall, I found it somewhat lacking in several areas, such as attachments, images, and text-search features. Also, it was more geared to fiction/novels and not other types of manuscripts, since it was novel-writing software.
Much of the writing software I evaluated I found to be far out of my price range, and then on the other extreme, the software looked like it had been written twenty years ago in Borland Delphi with large cartoon buttons scattered thoughout the UI.
iWriterPro is my attempt to fill in the gaps that I encountered while using the writing software and evaluating other writing software packages, along with pricing it at an affordable rate.
